Student & Campus Life - Library

Our library nurtures a modern educational and advanced learning environment through its unconditional provision and support.

Library & Learning Resources Mission:

The University of Prince Muqrin Library provides its users with access to intellectual content that fulfills their academic and research needs. We anticipate and respond to their desire for high quality collections and information and integrate our services into the University’s teaching, learning, research, and public engagement activities.

Library & Learning Resources Vision:

  •  Providing a learning environment that achieves the highest levels of effective services for library users.
  •  Facilitate access to library services and resources in multiple formats that meet our users’ needs.
  •  Supports effective use of all types of library materials.
  • Increase the faculty, students, and staff's collaboration to contribute to developing the library's collections for their actual and future needs.
  •  Cooperation and sharing with other universities in resources as permitted by the university policies.

Library & Learning Resources Hour

The library’s opening hours are Sunday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m.
Library closed during the following periods:
1. The Weekend (Friday and Saturday of each week)
2. Public holidays: 
• Saudi National Day 
• Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr
• Hajj and Eid Al-Adha
3. Emergency Closure Days
  • Circulation Timings (Issue/Return):  Sunday–Thursday 8.15 am. to 4.45 pm. The timings and days of operation are subject to change.

    Borrow, Renew, Return

    General Access and Borrowing Policies:

    •  ID card is needed to check out library items, without it all library patrons (Faculty, Staff, and Students) would not be able to check out any of them.
    •  Borrowers are responsible for everything checked out under their names by them or others who lent their ID and that may cause for them hefty overdue fines of delay or loss of.
    •  Borrowers are responsible for observing & keep tracking due dates stamped in their own checkout items, because they will have to pay the overdue fines, even if they do not receive the reminder email for any reason.
    •  Borrowers can be borrowed and returned library items at the Circulation Desk or at a self-checkout station of the main library during service hours.
    •  Browsers are not allowed to exit out library with any of the library items without being checked out from it through the Circulation Desk or at a self-checkout station.
    •  Browsers should return or renew issued items on or before their due date. 
    •  Browsers should protect all their checked-out items from damage and theft during the existence of library items in their possession.
    • Browsers should keep library items in good condition and do not write, fold pages, underline or mark any book, the borrower will be held responsible for the damage.
    • Faculty members should do their own check out of library items personally by themselves or by their assistants if available. Students are not allowed to check out library items on behalf of faculty.   
    • Library users’ records of borrowing transactions will be maintained in a confidential manner.
    • All current journal and periodicals issues Non-Circulating Material they only in-house use.
    • Borrowing Privileges and loan periods are varies depending by borrower type and/or item type. Any faculty request for exceptions should be referred to the Library Director.
    • Overdue fines will not be counted on library closing days (Weekend & Public Holidays) 
    • The circulation operations and services will be suspended during library system failure.

    To fulfill the mission of the UPM, our Library & Learning Resources supports the University’s teaching, learning, research, and public engagement activities through diverse information sources with their needed support services

    Library OPAC (online catalog)

    It is the searching indexing tool through which you can browse what we have and what is available on the shelves from our printed collection

    Our sources include:

    Printed Collections

    Which includes copies of all textbooks and their supporting references, as well as general collections and reference books that include dictionaries, encyclopedias, and standard books.These collections can be browsed through the library's online catalog (OPAC), and these collections are subject to Library Circulation & Access Policies

      These sources include a wide range of e-books, electronic journals, search engines, digital repositories, and open-source academic tools that serve all academic programs.  It can be accessed through the electronic library catalog (OPAC)

    • E-Resources Databases Subscriptions (e-Journals & eBooks)

    The library has subscribed to a set of general and specialized databases that serve all our academic programs. These resources are accessible from within the university campus IP address   without the need for login information.The access from outside campus requires contacting the library to obtain the access data Where our users can fill out the following form to obtain the access data

    Information Literacy

    The library offered at various times throughout the academic year Library orientations sessions, guided tours, in-class upon the request of a faculty member or One-on-one sessions can be arranged upon request. These sessions aim to develop research skills and effectively use a library resource To request an orientation session, please submit the LIBRARY ORIENTATION REQUEST FORM.

    Group Study Rooms and Meeting room:

    Group Studies are intended for groups of two or more people engaged in collaborative projects. An individual is welcome to use an unoccupied Group Study but must yield to a group on request (by reservation or on a first come, first served basis). These rooms always remain unlocked; The Library is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Personal items left unattended in a Group Study for 30 minutes will be removed by Library Security and brought to the Lost & Found, Security Desk.To reserve Group Study Rooms or meeting room in advance, please fill out the form below

    Printing & Copying

    UPM Library Services Includes color and the W&B printing, and a Plotter printer to provide printing services for College of Engineering students
