The 3D Printer is available for making three-dimensional plastic objects using a design that is uploaded from a digital computer file (in STL format).

1. The 3D printer may be used only for lawful purposes*. You will not be permuted to use the printer to create material that is:

•               Prohibited by local law.
•               Unsafe, harmful, dangerous, or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others.
•               Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the UPM environment.
•               In violation of another’s intellectual property rights. Printers will not be used to reproduce material that is subject to copyright,                           patent or trademark protection.

      2. Only Capstone Lab Coordinator and EE Lab Engineers will have hands-on access to the 3D printer.

      3. The customer must use a separate form for each printing request.

      4. The 3D model printing outcome is your responsibility if no 3D modeling review is requested.

      5. Items that are not picked up within 7 days from printing date will be discarded.

      6. Requests will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis and as time allows. Priority will be given to UPM members.

      7. Print time is limited to working days and the maximum size for a single print is 320 x 320 x 500 mm.

      8. The costs of 3D printing are dictated by the model weight and operation costs as per the following details:

•                                                 𝑂𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝐶𝑜𝑠𝑡 (𝑆𝐴𝑅)∗∗ = 125 𝑆𝐴𝑅
•                                   𝑻𝒐𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒐𝒔𝒕 (𝑺𝑨𝑹)∗∗ = 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒐𝒔𝒕 + 𝑶𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑪𝒐𝒔𝒕
•         A deposit of 200 SAR is required in advance for each print request. Once the deposit is cleared,  the 3D printing operators will                         review the form and confirm the total cost as per the requested services  and the deposit will be deducted from the total cost.

•        The operations costs in the cost equation, part a, depend on the review model service requested:

                               1. if a design review is requested, then a flat rate will be charged depending on the design complexity by the operators.

                              2. if no design review is requested then the operation costs will be a flat rate of 125 SAR.

                                       a. Operating cost fee is paid once for only multiple copies of the same model.

                                       b. 60% of the operating costs are for the operators and 40% is for machine operation degradation.

NOTICE: if no design review is requested, the model will be printed as per the uploaded model disregarding the outcome of the print.

*it’s the responsibility of the customer to verify the eligibility of the item to be printed.
